Garden centre, but different! VEG and the City specialises in organic urban gardening and seasonal cut flowers, so-called slow flowers. 🐝🌿The team also designs, plants and maintains balconies and terraces, creating green oases indoors and outdoors.
VEG and the City is all about organic gardening in the city.
The young Swiss company has set itself the goal of re-establishing the lost connection to food and offering city residents a natural (vegetable) garden that suits their lifestyle and the knowledge associated with it.
This is why the label only offers seeds and fertilisers in Swiss organic quality and long-lasting garden accessories, most of which come from small producers. You can also find a large selection of seasonal slow flowers and various houseplants online and in the three stores in Zurich Albisrieden, Europaallee and Winterthur Old Town.
VEG and the City is convinced that the green thumb is just a rumour. Anyone can learn and practice gardening. That's why the company also offers a wide range of colourful workshops and courses and actively helps to plant balconies and gardens with its foodscaping team.
Our stores are right in the city: you can garden directly in our store. Everything is also available in small, urban portions, e.g. peat-free soil and other substrates on open sale. Our staff in the stores can answer any questions you may have about gardening so that your first salad and home-grown tomato make it to your plate. Sustainability, seasonality and locality play a major role. Our organic seedlings are produced locally around Lake Zurich. We source organic seeds from Swiss producers and thus directly support the preservation of biodiversity.
Seasonal fresh-cut flowers in the spirit of the Slow Flowers philosophy round off the range and are processed into cheerfully wild bouquets, decorations and wedding flower arrangements.
The founder - Gudrun Ongania - is actively involved in the business, whether in designing the product range or organising courses and events.
In exhibition hall 4, stand G24, VEG and the City is presenting a lush, blooming urban summer garden this year. In the spirit of a summer party, visitors can linger, enjoy themselves and dance along in the silent disco.
